Liz Mann – Kids Developer

My Role:

As I see it, I’m here to support and team with Teri as we try to help kids and our volunteers discover and explore the Big Story of the bible and journey as “God-Walkers”, as we like to say.  It’s pretty cool when one of your best friends becomes your “boss” and co-worker!

Beginnings and Wanderings:

Born in Toledo in March, 1957, I grew up in Swanton where I met my future husband, Mike Mann, in KINDERGARTEN!  No, we didn’t like each other back then, but became friends and started dating in high school.  When we (finally) married, we lived in Brookville, OH; then in Richmond, IN where we were privileged to adopt our two awesome kids, Julie and Eric.  We turned full circle and no happily live in Swanton again.
I was a Pediatrician in my “former life”, but now believe I’m called to be full-time wife and mom; homeschool teacher to Eric (Julie goes to Evergreen High School-Go Vikings!); part-time employee at WCC where I love working with the awesome staff and fantastic kids! (It’s sometimes hard to tell the difference, if you know what I mean!) I work with at great group of REAL people (What you see is what you get!) who are lots of fun and encourage and stimulate my personal faith journey, too.

What Gives Me Joy:

Being with my family.  Our one-eared dog, Penny.  Early morning chats with Mike.  Laughing at Eric’s jokes.  Reading Julie’s newest writings.  Watching the starts.  Listening to the birds, frogs, and other critters around our house.  Enjoying creation.  Watching Eric play soccer.  Listening to Julie sing (when she doesn’t know it).  Watching NCIS on TV.  Reading.  Finding that God just doesn’t fit in my “little box”. Vacationing in Paradise, Michigan.

What’s Ahead?

“Earth’s crammed with heaven, And every common bush afire with God; But only he who sees, takes off his shoes; The rest sit round and pluck blackberries.” (Elizabeth Barrett Browning)  I want to be one of those barefoot souls who sees God in “every common bush”!
